When Bappi Lahiri credited gold jewellery for success, recalled gift from mom

Singer Bappi Lahiri, known for his love of gold jewelry and his hits, has died at the age of 69. In an old interview, the legendary singer-songwriter once said that “gold is lucky” for him.

In the interview, Bappi Lahiri also explained the importance of some of his jewelry pieces. “My mom gave me a gold chain with a Hare Rama Hare Krishna locket in it. I got Zakhmi – my first blockbuster. When my mom put the chain on for me, she told me that Will be lucky. More gold chains come with more box office success. I always get gold from my family. After my mother, my wife Chitrani gave me another gold chain on my birthday in 1977 , with a large Ganpati locket. This follows the super-successful box office success of Aapki Ki Khatir and Bambai Ae Aa Mera Dost,” he said in an article for Speaking Tree.

He added: “I have up to seven chain stores and Ganpati has made a huge difference in my life. I am a loyal follower of Siddhivinayak and Lalbagcha Raja. One day I had a dream that asked me to Wearing a ganpati on my chest. Soon after, my musical achievements entered the Guinness Book of World Records. Three years ago, my daughter Reema gave me a large gold chain on my birthday with a Maa Saraswati pendant Box. Wherever I travel, I always have some gold jewelry with me. My gold jewelry is too heavy and I can’t take it all abroad. I always want to take God with me. I never weigh myself Gold jewelry. On every chain, God is there, so I never weigh any of my jewelry.”

Bappi Lahiri passed away on Tuesday night due to multiple health problems. On Wednesday morning, hospital doctors shared the news of his death. Bappi Lahiri is best known for his hits in the 80s and 90s. His last Bollywood song was Bhankas from the 2020 movie Baaghi 3.
