World Cancer Day: Warning signs of common cancers everyone should know about

Considering that the signs and symptoms of this deadly disease only begin to appear in its advanced stages, early-stage cancers remain undetected. “Cancer is an abnormal growth of cells. It can come from anywhere in the body. It’s made up of tiny cells that have lost the ability to stop growing. Here’s a list of some potential cancer symptoms that shouldn’t be ignored

  1. Any lump or swelling in the breast or elsewhere.
  2. Any sores that do not heal.
  3. Abnormal bleeding or discharge.
  4. Difficulty or pain in swallowing
  5. Changes in warts or moles.
  6. Inexplicable cough or hoarseness.
  7. Changes in bowel or bladder habits.
  8. Short-term loss of appetite and/or unexplained weight loss.

Cancer can affect any organ, and signs and symptoms may vary depending on the area affected. Below are specific signs of some common cancers.

Oral Cancer Symptoms

Often, oral cancer appears as an ulcer or growth on the mouth, lips, or tongue, especially if there is a history of smoking.
