‘Worth the wait’: Zaheer Khan on Archer-Bumrah bowling together in IPL

Mumbai Indians director of cricket operations Zaheer Khan said the wait was worth the wait when Jofra Archer and Jasprit Bumrah started tandem bowling for the Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise.

Archer was snapped up by Mumbai Indians for Rs 8 crore on the second day of IPL’s mega-auction in Bengaluru. The England striker will be out of the IPL 2022 season and will only play for the team from next season.

“You eagerly wait for a partner to come on the pitch, and so do I. Seeing two legendary fast bowlers bowling in tandem, I’m glad it seems possible and worth the wait,” Zaheer said.

The Mumbai Indians also snapped up Singapore’s Tim David for Rs 825 crore in a major auction.

Speaking of Tim David, Mumbai Indians head coach Mahra Jayawardene said: “He is a red-hot player at the moment and is known to be a tough batsman. We know we have the funds available. , many hundred players are our target. Like Bumrah-Archer with the ball, Pollard-David with the bat.”

The Mumbai Indian also picked up Ishan Kishan (Rs 1,525 crore) and Arjun Tendulkar (Rs 3 crore) in the big auction.

“Ishan Kishan is an Indian batsman, he is a left-handed batsman. We always back ourselves when we see talent, Ishan is 23 years old and he is an important aspect of the team, that is Why we value him as a team. The dynamics of auctions, that’s the auction, and we’re happy to have him. Ishan works hard, he’s evolved. We’re looking forward to it,” Jayawardene said.
