YouTube TV Reaches Deal to Restore Access to Disney Channels

After the two companies reached a distribution agreement to end a two-day power outage, YouTube resumed access to the Walt Disney Channel on its platform on Sunday.

YouTube tweeted that “We have reached an agreement with Disney and have begun to restore access to channels such as ESPN and FX.” Neither company disclosed the financial terms of the transaction.

YouTube warned last week that it would only renew its agreement with Disney if the company provides “fair terms” and announced that it will lower the monthly price of YouTube TV from $64.99 (approximately Rs 4,940) by $15 (approximately). 1,140 rupees) to 49.99 US dollars (approximately 3,800 rupees). On Sunday, YouTube stated that the monthly subscription fee has been restored to US$64.99 (approximately Rs 4,940), but affected users will receive a one-time discount of US$15 (approximately Rs 1,140).

Disney said in a statement on Sunday: “We thank Google for cooperating to reach fair terms consistent with the market.”

Earlier this month, YouTube and streaming platform Roku reached a multi-year agreement to distribute YouTube’s flagship app and TV service, ending a months-long battle over allegations of anti-competitive conduct.
