Will Maharashtra Police be able to take action against Uddhav Thackeray in the same way as the action was taken against Union Minister Narayan Rane?

After the arrest of Rane, who had talked of slapping Uddhav Thackeray, a BJP leader has now filed a complaint with the police against the Maharashtra CM’s statement, in which he had said that ‘Yogi should be killed with his slippers’.

The complainant is BJP’s Yavatmal district president Nitin Bhutada. He has demanded registration of an FIR against Shiv Sena chief and state Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray and legal action for making “inflammatory” speeches.

The complainant has given a complaint at the Umerkhed police station. A police officer has confirmed that the application has been received from the BJP leader.

The complaint states that during the Dussehra speech on 25 October 2020, Uddhav Thackeray had used ‘inflammatory and filthy language’ against Yogi Adityanath.

Thackeray had said that “how can a Yogi become the Chief Minister? He should go and sit in a cave. He should hit her with his sandal. Yogi has insulted Shivaji Maharaj. Yogi did not have the status to go to Shivaji. When Yogi comes to Maharashtra, he should be beaten with his slippers….”
