Construction work on the NH-709B, a six-lane project running through various areas of East and Northeast Delhi and involving an investment of Rs 1,375.56 million, will begin soon.

The 155 km-long corridors will start from the Akshardham temple in Delhi and end at Saharanpur in Uttar Pradesh.

The highway will reduce travel time in UP districts and facilitate traffic flow in areas of northeast Delhi such as Pushta Road, New Usmanpur, Sonia Vihar Extension, Khajuri Khas, West Karawal Nagar, and Bhajanpura.

The project has already been awarded and is scheduled for completion in 2023 after new tenders were called last month.

There are also plans to build an AIIMS-like hospital in this area so that people can reduce travel time and take advantage of the facilities.

New corridors are planned around Noida Link Road and Marginal Bund Road (Pushta Road) in Delhi and Baghpat Road in UP.

In fact, Pushta Road in northeast Delhi is one of the most congested corridors in the capital, connecting Delhi with the Uttar Pradesh border and the Eastern Peripheral Expressway (EPE).

The corridor has a large number of unauthorized colonies and slum clusters on both sides of the road, as there is a large influx of vehicles, causing heavy and regular traffic jams.

The portion in Delhi – Akshardham-Gita Colony-Shastri Park-Khajuri Khas-Delhi-UP border – is 14.75 km long and comprises a 7 km elevated section.
