Flood relief will be sought from Centre soon, says Tamil Nadu CM MK Stalin
Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu State MK Stalin said here on Sunday that he will seek flood relief from the center after completing an assessment of crop losses in the Gauveri Delta due to heavy rains. He also reiterated that an investigation committee will be established to investigate violations under the infrastructure plan here, aimed at increasing convenience facilities and preventing flooding. Stalin said that there will be a report soon.
He said that after a comprehensive review of the losses suffered by farmers, he will seek appropriate flood relief from the center. Stalin told reporters after distributing flood aid to the affected people here that if necessary, the Minister of State or Members of Parliament will call on Prime Minister Narendra Modi to seek relief for Tamil Nadu. When he visited the Gauveri Delta on November 13 to check the damage caused by heavy rains, he provided a flood relief plan of Rs 1.3 million to the public relief fund of CM.
At the same time, AIADMK has also participated in flood relief activities and has been targeting the DMK government to deal with floods. When asked about criticism from the opposition, Stalin said he was not worried. “My job is to serve the people. That’s why people choose me to be the chief minister.”
Stalin said that after the monsoon season is over, an investigation committee will be established to investigate irregularities, targeting projects and floods here.
“Whoever is responsible will be brought to the book.” The Chief Minister has already accused of violations and corruption during the implementation of the Smart City mission plan during the former AIADMK regime, and accused the government led by the former Chief Minister K Palaniswami of causing the flooding here.
