‘Khela Hobe’ in 2024; BJP will be defeated across India: Mamata Banerjee
The Chief Minister of West Bengal, Mamata Banerjee, claimed on Wednesday that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will be defeated in the next Bharatiya Janata election in 2024. She talked about the trinamool parliament’s victory in the West Bengal parliamentary elections and claimed that the Saffron Party had suffered a similar fiasco at the national level.
“During the parliamentary vote, we saw the BJP campaign in the state. Everyone was afraid of it. But the people of the state defeated them. Bangladesh is a place where the community is harmonious. What Bangladesh thinks today is what India thinks. Tomorrow. We will defeat the BJP in the 2024 Lok Sabha poll. It will suffer the same fate as the last parliamentary poll,” said the Trinamool Parliament Chairman during his campaign for the Calcutta Municipal Election (KMC) on December 19. This is Banerjee’s first public event after returning from his two-day visit to Goa. The Chief Minister said that her only goal after returning to power for the third consecutive term in the state is to bring industry and create jobs.
The Trinamool Conference led by Banerjee is trying to expand its national influence. In addition to Goa, the party is also concerned about Tripura State, where it fought a fierce battle with the BJP in the recent municipal elections.
The parliamentary elections in Goa and Tripura will expire in 2022 and 2023, respectively. However, the Bharatiya Janata Party rejected Banerjee’s proposal for the next general election. “She said similar things in 2014 and 2019, and all of us have seen the results,” said Sukanta Majumdar, the chairman of the People’s Party.
The Trinamool Congress swept the parliamentary elections held earlier this year during the peak of the second wave of Coronavirus Disease (Covid-19). Banerjee’s party performed a hat-trick, occupying 213 of the 294 seats, and undermining the Bharatiya Janata Party’s hopes of gaining a foothold on the east coast of India.
However, the BJP won 77 seats and 38.1% of the vote in the parliamentary elections, the best performance ever. However, compared to Lok Sabha’s performance in 2019, it has suffered a reversal, when it won 121 seats with a 40% vote share.
In a vote held in October, the Trinamool Congress won all three seats-Bhabanipur, Jangipur and Samserganj, which once again shook the BJP.
