According to the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO), the inspiration behind the highway is the Prime Minister’s vision to provide fast-paced connections across the country.

The six-lane highway can be expanded to eight lanes and will have a 3.5-kilometer runway to assist the Indian Air Force aircraft in emergency takeoffs and landings. It is also recommended to build an industrial corridor along the highway.
