Afridi critical of Ganguly and co. for Kohli’s treatment: ‘Talk face-to-face’

Controversy broke out in Indian cricket when Virat Kohli was removed as the captain of ODI earlier this month. Although Rohit Sharma was appointed as the new captain of the 50 rounds, BCCI Chairman Sourav Ganguly later stated that the board had asked Kohli to resign as captain of the T20I in October. Once he resigned, the selection would not be two independent white captains.

A week after he was relieved of his post as captain, Kohli said at a press conference that the board did not make such a request, which caused him and BCCI to fall into a dispute. Since Kohli’s explosive comments and Ganguly’s considerable silence, speculation has been widespread, insisting that the whole situation will be handled “internally.”

Former Pakistan captain Shahid Afridi (Shahid Afridi) was asked to speak on this issue, and he insisted that the communication between the players and the board must be transparent.

“This could have been handled in a better way. I always think the role of the cricket board is very important. The selection committee should effectively communicate their plan for any particular player-‘This is our plan, and we believe it will be more for us. OK. What do you think?’-something like this,” Afridi said on Samaa TV.

“If you communicate these things through the media, there will be problems. Face to face talks, we may have a solution. If you keep dragging it, it will not be solved. There should be no communication gap between the player and the PCB, or any board, “Afridi said.

Although Rohit Sharma is now the full-time captain of the Indian team, Kohli continues to lead the Indian team with the longest game format. The test captain will return to the game on December 26, when India will face South Africa in three away series.
