India vs South Africa 2021-22: Virat Kohli, Rishabh Pant on Verge of Interesting Feats
India captain Virat Kohli and goalkeeper batsman Rishabh Pant are approaching an interesting feat as India faces South Africa in a three-match test series starting on December 26. Although Kohli can become the third fastest to reach 8,000 test matches, Pant can go beyond his idol MS Dhoni in terms of the number of dismissals. Kohli has only achieved this feat 199 times and will become the fifth Indian batsman to do this after Sachin Tendulkar, Rahul Dravid, VVS Laxman and Virender Sehwag.
The Indian captain has not made it to the top 100 international in more than 2 years. If he can score in some way, he may become the successor to Tendulkar (154 innings), Dravid (158 innings) and Sehwag (160 innings) The Indian 199, who got there the third fastest, was in the first round of the Boxing Day Test at the Super Sports Park.

Gambhir acknowledges that his “sole regret in seven years of captaincy” is Suryakumar Yadav: “KKR failed to recognise his potential.”

When former captain Gautam Gambhir reflects on the two IPL titles won by KKR during that time, he named the star player from India his greatest regret.

In 2012, Suryakumar began his IPL career with the Mumbai Indians, appearing in just one match before being cut loose the following year. In an interview with Sportskeeda on Monday, Gambhir said that his biggest regret as KKR captain is that he failed to recognise Suryakumar’s ability or his ideal batting position in the lineup.
Finding and showcasing the greatest potential is the responsibility of a leader. If there’s one thing I regret from my seven years as captain, it’s that neither I nor the squad were able to fully utilise Suryakumar Yadav. And combinations were the key to the cause. At No. 3, you may only play one person. As a leader, you also need to consider the other ten players in the starting lineup. Although he was just as excellent at No. 7, he would have been far more effective at No. 3, he said.
Gambhir went on to praise Suruyakumar for being a team player, citing the reason behind his appointment as the team’s vice-captain in 2015.
He was a team player as well. A good player may be anyone, but becoming a team player takes skill. Playing him at No. 6 or 7 or benching him, he was constantly grinning and eager to contribute to the squad. He went on, “That’s why we named him vice captain.”
