Nvidia GeForce RTX 3050 Budget Desktop GPU, GeForce RTX 3080 Ti, 3070 Ti for Laptops Announced
Nvidia announced the launch of its budget-focused GeForce RTX 3050 desktop GPU, which is now the most affordable in the GeForce RTX 30 series. The company also announced the launch of new high-performance GeForce RTX 3080 Ti and GeForce RTX 3070 Ti GPUs for gaming laptops, and mocked the upcoming flagship GeForce RTX 3090 Ti. The GeForce Now cloud gaming platform has expanded with more new games and will be available on more platforms, including mobile devices that support 5G. Its manufacturers will release new monitors and mice that support the Nvidia Reflex ecosystem, as well as a new 1440p monitor with a refresh rate of up to 360Hz for e-sports enthusiasts. These announcements coincide with the opening time of the CES 2022 trade show.
The official pricing for GeForce RTX 3050-based graphics cards starts at Rs. 22,200 (US$249 in the US), and they will be available globally on January 27th. Nvidia will not provide its own Founders Edition card, and will only provide custom designs from companies including Asus, Zotac, Gigabyte, MSI, Tongde, Inno3D, etc. The actual street price is not yet known, but considering the current state of the retail GPU market, it may rise sharply.
The GeForce RTX 3050 GPU is based on the same Ampere architecture as its larger brother, and supports RTX ray tracing effects and DLSS image magnification. It is designed to replace the GeForce RTX 1650, has 2560 CUDA cores, and runs at up to 1.78GHz. All cards will be equipped with 8GB GDDR6 memory on a 128-bit bus. On the other hand, the “monster” GeForce RTX 3090 Ti desktop GPU will be able to provide 40 teraflops of bandwidth, 78 teraflops of ray tracing, and up to 320 teraflops of AI operation. This GPU is likely to be popular with cryptocurrency miners, and the details of its pricing and availability are unclear. The GeForce RTX 3090 Ti graphics card will be equipped with 24GB of GDDR6X RAM, capable of 21Gbps transmission. More details will be announced later this month.
As for laptops, starting February 1, the new GeForce RTX 3080 Ti and GeForce RTX 3070 Ti laptops will be priced at US$2,499 (approximately Rs 1,90,775) and US$1,499 (approximately Rs 1,14,435).
For creators, Nvidia has updated its Canvas application to allow users to use AI to generate landscapes, add additional elements such as flowers and shrubs, and a maximum resolution that is 4 times higher than before. Nvidia Omniverse is a 3D virtual world simulation platform, which will now be provided for free, and Omniverse Machinima has been expanded with new characters and environments. Nvidia also announced a partnership with AT&T of the United States to provide free 5G GeForce Now game streaming on compatible devices including smartphones for subscribers with unlimited data plans in the United States.
