Digital skills assessment startup iMocha raises  million in Series A funding

The Pune-based company’s software solutions leverage artificial intelligence (AI) simulators, interview tools and talent analytics to help organizations quickly find suitable candidates for the job remotely.
iMocha, a digital skills assessment platform for upskilling and recruiting, announced Thursday that it has raised $14 million in a Series A round led by global investment firm Eight Roads Ventures.

Pune-based iMocha, formerly known as Interview Mocha, aims to use the capital it raised at an undisclosed valuation to increase the selection of its skills pool, reach more global businesses, and expand its collaboration in the HR technology ecosystem partner base. The financing comes against the backdrop of the Covid-19 pandemic accelerating the growing need for automation, digitization and the adoption of remote work.

The company, co-founded in 2015 by former IBM executives Amit Mishra and Sujit Karpe, enables employers to assess individual skill proficiency through job role-based hiring and learning assessments. Its software solutions leverage artificial intelligence (AI) simulators, interviewing tools and talent analytics to help organizations quickly find suitable candidates for jobs remotely.

In 2020, it raised $600,000 from a group of investors, including Girish Mathrubootham, CEO and co-founder of U.S. SaaS startup Freshworks, which went public on Nasdaq last September.

Existing investors Upekkha and Better Capital also participated in the latest funding round for the company, which has more than 300 clients globally, including Fujitsu, NICE and Microsoft.

Following the capital injection, Aditya Systla from Eight Roads Ventures and Prasanna Krishnamoorthy from Upekkha will join iMocha’s board of directors, the company said in a statement.

iMocha’s library has over 2,000 assessments covering a range of skills including coding, data science, artificial intelligence, machine learning, cybersecurity, enterprise applications, cloud computing, infrastructure management, application development, competency and banking.

YouTube has celebrated its 20th anniversary with several new features, including functional upgrades and new features for YouTube TV. The platform has introduced personalised radio stations via Ask Music, which is available to YouTube Premium and YouTube Music users on both iOS and Android devices. Additionally, YouTube is rolling out the ability to fast-forward.

YouTube TV members will gain the ability to build their own multiview experiences, starting with a selection of non-sports content from a small group of popular channels. The platform is introducing improved navigation, better playback quality, and easier access to features such as comments, channel information, and more through videos at 4x speed, providing more.
