Always wanted to play for MI, glad to finally get the opportunity: Archer

England striker Jofra Archer has said he has always wanted to represent Mumbai Indians in the Indian Premier League (IPL) and he is delighted to finally have the chance.

Archer was snapped up by Mumbai Indians for Rs 8 crore on the second day of IPL’s mega-auction in Bengaluru. The England striker will be out of the IPL 2022 season and will only play for the team from next season.

“I am delighted to be joining the Mumbai Indians, they have always been a team in my heart and I have always wanted to play for them. I am delighted that I finally have the opportunity to play for the team and share the dressing room with the greats of cricket. Looking forward to starting a new chapter,” Archer said in a video posted on Mumbai Indians’ Instagram handle.

Mumbai Indians director of cricket operations Zaheer Khan said the wait was worth the wait when Jofra Archer and Jasprit Bumrah started bowling together for the team.
