PM Modi is likely to speak to Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelensky on Monday, news agency ANI reports. The two met for the first time after an all-out war broke out between Russia and Ukraine on February 24. India abstained during a vote in the UN Security Council (UNSC) after Ukraine crisis.
India’s stand on the Russia-Ukraine war is crucial as it has expressed concerns for the safety and security of Ukraine nationals. The ministry of external affairs has also urged for a ceasefire, which Russia has selectively implemented. India has abstained from the resolutions against Russia in the United Nations.
PM Modi expressed India’s willingness to contribute in any way towards peace efforts, as he expressed deep anguish and reiterated his call for an immediate cessation of violence.
