India marks the death anniversary of freedom fighters Bhagat Singh, Rajguru and Thapar. Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that the spirit of sacrificing their lives for the motherland will always inspire the countrymen.
He will honour Bhagat Singh, Sukhdev and Rajguru, who died fighting for India’s independence from British rule.
Arvind Kejriwal also paid tribute to Bhagat Singh, Sukhdev and Rajguru on the martyrdom day of the freedom fighters. “Every countryman will forever be indebted to the immortal sacrifice of these heroes,” he said in a message on Twitter.

Bhagat Singh, Sukhdev and Rajguru plotted the assassination of the British officer James Scott in Lahore. In a case of mistaken identity, assistant superintendent of police John Saunders was shot dead. The three freedom fighters were hanged to death on March 23, 1931.
