The actor was grooving on the dance floor, swinging his gold statue in the air. Several other celebrities like Ricky Martin, Trevor Noah, Cynthia Erivo and Tony Goldwyn congratulated him.

Cannes 2024: Furiosa, starring Chris Hemsworth A seven-minute standing ovation for A Mad Max Saga

The debut of George Miller’s Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga at the Cannes Film Festival in 2024 was met with a thunderous reception. The Hollywood Reporter has reported that the fifth edition of the action franchise was met with a standing ovation that lasted for seven minutes at the Grand Lumiere Theatre. Chris Hemsworth, Anya Taylor-Joy, and director George Miller were among the cast members in attendance.

A lengthy applause greets Furiosa.

According to the story, Chris and Anya both approached fans outside the cinema and accommodated them with pictures, demonstrating how much love and passion Furiosa received at Cannes. Anya wore a gorgeous champagne-colored Dior ball gown and Tiffany & Co. jewellery for the event. Chris, on the other hand, chose to wear black pants, a white jacket and a shirt without a tie—a breach of the Cannes dress code. Following the premiere, the trio stood up and were observed grinning and giving each other hugs. The director of Elvis, Baz Luhrmann, who was also there in the crowd, hugged George Miller.

Concerning Furiosa

Anya assumes Charlize Theron’s character in Mad Max: Fury Road (2015) as Furiosa. Chris appears in the action movie as a crazy warlord. Ten years before to the 2015 release, it takes place.

According to the Cannes Film Festival website, the official summary of the movie is as follows: “Young Furiosa is abducted from the Green Place of Many Mothers and ends up in the hands of a great Biker Horde led by the Warlord Dementus as the world falls.” They discover The Immortan Joe’s Citadel while sweeping over the Wasteland. Furiosa must endure several hardships as she pieces together the means to return home, all the while the two Tyrants struggle for supremacy.

In addition to receiving widespread praise upon its 2015 premiere, Mad Max: Fury Road went on to win six Oscars, including Best Production Design, Best Costume Design, and Best Film Editing.

On May 23, Furiosa will open in Indian cinemas.
