Anil and Sanjay Kapoor’s launch, according to Boney Kapoor, was “Paisa paani ki tarah bahaya.”

Boney Kapoor, has said that he blew a lot of cash on the debuts of his brothers Anil and Sanjay Kapoor. His daughter Janhvi Kapoor and son Arjun Kapoor are both actors, but he did not produce either of their starring roles in their first movies.

Anil received his Bollywood debut opposite Tabu with Prem in 1995, while Sanjay received his with Boney’s production Woh Saat Din in 1983. Anil had already made his acting debut in smaller roles, but his role as the lead actor in Woh Saat Din opposite Padmini Kolhapure and Naseeruddin Shah was a first for him. Bapu directed the production.

Sanjay’s debut turned out to be a box office flop, and it took many years before it was finally released in theatres. When asked why he declined to produce Arjun, Janhvi, and Khushi’s debut movie, Boney responded to Dainik Bhaskar in an interview, “It was our decision. No one could stop me when I debuted (brothers) Anil and Sanjay.

Shakkar me itna gud milaya ki diabetes ka khatra ho gaya, and main shakkar pe gud milata rehta hoon (I keep adding sugar to jaggery and that turned into a diabetes threat). I did not spare any details when I launched my brother. “Paid a lot of money, spent a lot of money,”

“So, I decided someone else should launch the kids,” he continued. When everyone is ready to enter the profession, I will invest my funds in accordance with their market worth. Arjun, the son of Boney, made his film debut in Ishaqzaade, an Aditya Chopra movie, while Janhvi made her Bollywood debut in Dhadak, a Karan Johar production. Khushi, his other daughter, will shortly make her Bollywood debut in Zoya Akhtar’s The Archies.

Anil and Sanjay Kapoor’s Launch: Boney Kapoor Reflects on the “Paisa Paani Ki Tarah Bahaya” Moment

Boney Kapoor, one of Bollywood’s most successful producers, recently shared his thoughts on the career launches of his brothers, Anil Kapoor and Sanjay Kapoor. In a candid interview, Boney reminisced about the early days of their careers and how their respective launches were both exciting and financially challenging.

Boney recalled that when it came to launching Anil and Sanjay, the process involved substantial financial investments, describing it as “paisa paani ki tarah bahaya” (money was spent like water). His statement highlighted the amount of effort, resources, and money that went into ensuring their successful entry into the film industry, and how, at that time, there were no shortcuts to creating a strong debut.

For Anil Kapoor, who was launched with the 1980s film Woh Saat Din, Boney explained how he backed his brother’s potential and supported his journey with not just financial resources but a vision to carve out a long-term career. As Anil went on to become one of the biggest stars of Bollywood, it was evident that Boney’s investments paid off.

Sanjay Kapoor’s debut, on the other hand, was in Prem, released in 1995, and while the film didn’t have the same immediate impact as Anil’s, Boney reflected on the support he gave his younger brother to ensure that he had the best possible opportunity to succeed in a competitive industry.

Boney’s reflections on his brothers’ launches offer insight into the sacrifices and investments behind a successful career in Bollywood. The phrase “paisa” serves as a reminder of the financial gamble that often accompanies launching a newcomer into the highly competitive world of Indian cinema.
