A documentary series on Taylor Swift and Scooter Braun will premiere in June.
June will see the Discovery+ launch of the documentary series examining singer Taylor Swift’s conflict with renowned music producer Scooter Braun.
The ongoing controversy involving Taylor Swift and Scooter Braun has been in the news for a while and is about to be shown on screen. The “gripping” disagreement between pop megastar Taylor Swift and music industry billionaire Scooter Braun will be the subject of a two-part documentary series called Taylor Swift vs. Braun: Bad Blood.
Variety reports that Warner Bros. Discovery UK and Ireland has commissioned a docuseries that will delve into Taylor’s conflict with music producer Scooter.
Our knowledge about the documentary series
The two-part documentary, dubbed Taylor Swift vs. Scooter Braun: Bad Blood in the works, will delve deeply into the $300 million disagreement between the pop sensation and the business tycoon after Braun obtained the rights to Swift’s first six albums in June 2019. The documentary will focus on the pop superstar’s public spat with Braun.
In addition to journalists and legal professionals, the two hour-long episodes, which air in June, will also include those who are close to Taylor and Scooter. The project will analyse the roles of gender dynamics, fanbase impact, and artist rights while delving into Scooter’s $300 million acquisition of her music archive from Scott Borchetta of Big Machine Records in 2019. Its goal is to fairly reflect all sides.
The claims made by Swift that Scott prevented her from obtaining the rights to her first six albums will also be examined in the series. Additionally, viewers are expected to receive a “comprehensive masterclass on music rights.”
The show is a part of the “vs” series from Warner Bros. Discovery UK. The famous projects Johnny vs. Amber, which centres on the court case involving Johnny Depp and Amber Heard, and Kim vs. Kanye: The Divorce, which details Kim Kardashian’s split from musician Ye, formerly known as Kanye West, are also featured in the series.
More on the conflict between Taylor and Scooter
When it was revealed in June 2019 that Scott’s Big Machine Label Group had been purchased by Scooter’s media firm, Ithaca Holdings, for $300 million, the public drama came to light. Taylor’s first six albums with Big Machine Records—her self-titled debut, Fearless, Speak Now, Red, 1989, and Reputation—became Scooter’s property as a result of the agreement.
Later that day, Taylor Swift posted an emotional message on Tumblr, saying, “This is my worst case scenario.” Scooter was described by her as a “constant, manipulative bully.”
Taylor was angry at the time and said she had been taken by surprise by the agreement, having made an unsuccessful attempt to obtain the rights herself. She continued by starting a discussion regarding the ownership of creative rights by artists. In addition, she started a campaign to rerecord each album and urged her followers to stream the updated Taylor’s Versions rather than the previous releases.

HBO defends JK Rowling’s involvement in Harry Potter series despite problematic stance on transgender community
JK Rowling, whose Harry Potter book franchise gave Warner Bros a blockbuster film franchise, is also associated with its upcoming HBO series.
JK Rowling has remained decidedly steadfast on her controversial stance on the transgender community. In a statement to Variety, HBO explained why the author is still involved in its upcoming series on Harry Potter despite her problematic gender politics. What HBO said
“We are proud to once again tell the story of Harry Potter — the heartwarming books that speak to power of friendship, resolve and acceptance. JK Rowling has a right to express her personal views. We will remain focused on the development of the new series, which will only benefit from her involvement,” HBO’s statement stated.
It also added that its parent company Warner Bros “been working with JK Rowling and in the Harry Potter business for over 20 years” and “her contribution has been invaluable.” The report also states that HBO chief Casey Bloys informed the media at an event on November 12 that JK Rowling was “very, very involved in the process selecting the writer and the director,” and her anti-trans statements “haven’t affected the casting or hiring of writers or productions staff.”
A couple of days before that, Rowling had shared a screenshot of a tweet by an X user who wrote, “My disappointment is immeasurable and my day is ruined” when the author had revealed that she’s “very involved” in the Harry Potter series. Rowling wrote along with the screenshot, “I’ve only just seen this response to me saying I’m very involved in the Harry Potter TV show and I think I’ve pulled something laughing.”
About Harry Potter series
Warner Bros launched an open casting call for the leads Harry, Hermoine and Ron, who were played by Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson and Rupert Grint, respectively, in the eight-part movie franchise.
The series will most likely go ahead with newcomers for the top three characters and mix it with veterans for the adult cast, like the movie franchise, which featured Richard Harris as Dumbledore and roped in Michael Gambon after his death. Late star Maggie Smith played Professor McGonagall, and Alan Rickman starred as Professor Snape.
Mark Rylance, 64, who won an Academy Award for best supporting actor in 2016 for his work in Steven Spielberg’s Bridge of Spies, is reportedly at the top of the casting wishlist to play Dumbledore in the Harry Potter series.
