Aamir Khan’s Laal Singh Chaddha earned a meagre ₹10 million in its opening weekend.

Aamir Khan’s Laal Singh Chaddha opened in the range of around ₹10-11 crore. The film released on Raksha Bandhan and clashed with Akshay Kumar’s film, Rakshash Bandhan. The film marks the Bollywood debut of Telugu star Naga Chaitanya. Laal Singh Chaddha is written by Atul Kulkarni and stars Kareena Kapoor opposite Aamir. The day one collection is in the same range as Ranveer Singh’s Christmas release, 83. Laal Singh Chaddha recorded a double digit weekend at the box office. The film can do reasonable business in the metros over the extended five-day weekend. The Hindi circuits did not perform at all and really need a miraculous turnaround to perform well. Film is a faithful adaptation of Tom Hanks-starrer Forrest Gump. Call it caricaturish or cartoonish, but actor’s Laal does evoke empathy, they said. Members of a Hindu outfit have demanded a ban on the film in Uttar Pradesh. They accused Aamir Khan of making fun of Hindu deities earlier. The Sanatan Rakshak Sena members held a protest in front of IP Vijaya Mall in Bhelupur, Varanasi. The organisations claim that Aamir is against the Sanatan Dharmas and their films should not be allowed to enter the country.

Family Star review

The Hindustan Times’ review of the movie Family Star, starring Vijay Deverakonda and directed by Parasuram Petla, suggests that the film struggles to make a mark or entertain, with issues reminiscent of Geetha Govindam (2018). The film tests patience and fails to maintain interest as it progresses.

The review criticizes the plot of Family Star, stating that it is thin and defies logic, making it difficult to enjoy. It also suggests that the film’s portrayal of middle-class life is caricaturish, as if it was written by someone unfamiliar with the realities of such a life.
