Abhimanyu Dassani and Shirley Setia were denied entry to an event for their own film Nikamma, which they are currently promoting. Abhimanyu shared a video of the incident on his Instagram account, in which he was attempting to explain to a guard that he was there to promote his film. The promotional event took place at Navi Mumbai’s DY Patil Stadium.

While the film’s title song and cheers could be heard in the background, Abhimanyu, Shirley Shetia, and others attempted to persuade the guard to open the gates. Abhimanyu had previously been denied entry to the Toronto Film Festival, where he had gone to see his debut film Mard Ko Dard Nahi Hota, according to fans (2018).
