After no Lata tribute, Kangana declares a boycott of ‘local awards’ like the Grammys and Oscars.

Kangana Ranaut expresses disappointment over Lata Mangeshkar’s name missing from In Memorium ceremony at Grammys 2022. Her name is mentioned in a list featured on the Grammys website. Academy Awards had also been criticised for not including Lata in tributes.

She said both Oscar and Grammy failed to give tribute to Bharat Ratna Lata Mangeshkar. Kangana wrote: “Our media should totally boycott these biased local events who claim to be global”.

Lata Mangeshkar’s name was not included in the In Memoriam segment of the 64th Annual Grammy Awards. Fans of the iconic singer expressed their disappointment on Twitter. Stephen Sondheim and Taylor Hawkins were honoured for their services to music during the ceremony.

One person shared a picture of Kangana’s IG Stories and wrote, I agree with Kangana. Lata Didi was bigger than #GRAMMYs. Another person asked why Indians seek validation from the West for things that do not require such validation.

Congress leader Abhishek Singhvi tweeted: “No notable mention for #Lata Ji during #Oscars & #Grammys is their loss not ours”.

Last month, Lata’s name had featured in BAFTA ‘In Memoriam’ segment. Lata died of multiple organ failure at Breach Candy hospital in Mumbai on February 6, 2022. She was hospitalised on January 11, 2022, after contracting Covid-19.

Family Star review

The Hindustan Times’ review of the movie Family Star, starring Vijay Deverakonda and directed by Parasuram Petla, suggests that the film struggles to make a mark or entertain, with issues reminiscent of Geetha Govindam (2018). The film tests patience and fails to maintain interest as it progresses.

The review criticizes the plot of Family Star, stating that it is thin and defies logic, making it difficult to enjoy. It also suggests that the film’s portrayal of middle-class life is caricaturish, as if it was written by someone unfamiliar with the realities of such a life.
