Air India disinvestment process: HC dismisses Swamy’s plea seeking CBI probe

The Delhi High Court on Thursday rejected BJP leader Subramanian Swamy’s request for the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to investigate the divestment procedures of Air India.

Chief Justice DN Patel and Judge Jyoti Singh listened to this request and awaited detailed orders.

Swamy seeks to shelve and revoke any actions or decisions related to Air India’s divestment process or grant any further approvals, permits or permits, while claiming that this is “arbitrary, illegal and contrary to the public interest”.

He said that the procedure was manipulated to benefit one of the parties. He claimed that Tata Sons gained an undue advantage in the process.

The center and Tatas rejected Swamy’s request.

On Tuesday, the court retained the order after hearing the debate.

Swami insisted that he is not opposed to the divestment policy and believes in the idea of a free market, but in the process raised the issue of “improper, illegal, misconduct and corruption”. “I support the divestment, but it seems to me huge corruption. I am complaining about the manipulated program. It was manipulated to benefit Tata,” he said on Tuesday.

Deputy Attorney General Tushar Mehta, who appeared in court for the center, said that Swamy’s petition was based on a “misunderstanding” and does not need to be considered.
