BTS’s Jin and Bang Si Hyuk’s photo provokes criticism in light of the HYBE chairman’s startling weight loss.

Jin, a member of BTS, comes back from his military assignment. At the FESTA event hosted by their agency, the lone member of the seven-piece South Korean band to commemorate the group’s 11th anniversary was the oldest. While this was going on, the other members—who are now in the military—briefly got together to congratulate Jin on finishing his service and then wrote handwritten notes and letters to supporters. The chairman of HYBE, Bang Si Hyuk, recently shared a photo of himself with the singer Moon, which has drawn a lot of criticism online. This is the reason.

HYBE’s chairman, Kim Seokjin, on Instagram following his discharge from the military after 18 months of devoted duty. The company is presently embroiled in a legal battle with its subsidiary ADOR and CEO Min Hee Jin. Although Bang Si Hyuk has long been loved in the BTS community and is regarded by the K-pop idols as a father figure, his latest conflict with NewJeans has stoked animosity among the fan base. The image elicited negative responses from internet users, who said Bang Si Hyuk is using Jin to repair his reputation.

The Astronaut singer looks sophisticated in the picture, wearing a handsome black pantsuit that is paired with a dashing necktie and a neat white shirt. He looks, holding a bouquet confidently at the camera while Bang Si Hyuk beams beside him. The caption reads, “With Jin. Congratulations on your successful return!”

Bang Si Hyuk is criticised by fans for exploiting Jin to improve his image.
“Brother, please don’t injure them. After Jin gave more than a thousand hugs to fans during his three-hour appearance at FESTA 2024, a fan wrote, “Don’t you even try to hurt my BTS.” Another said, “We only support Jinhit Entertainment.” Another person said, “He’s trying to better his image since his controversy, lol.” “Move so I can see Jin,” and “You should put a reminder in the HYBE building stating how you should be good to him,” were two more remarks made. “It’s unbelievable that someone with his kind is the chairman,” a fan continued. He is not a label operator.

Bang Si Hyuk’s unexpected weight decrease raises questions
With his ongoing rivalry with Min Hee Jin, Bang Si Hyuk had only been glimpsed in passing during his court appearances until the June 13 snapshot, which provided a sharper image of the singer. The sudden noticeable weight loss of HYBE’s chairman on the internet led to conjecture about the cause of his weight loss.

Many suggested that the “boss might be taking Ozempic,” a well-liked drug for weight loss. Some, however, mocked his legal dispute with ADOR by claiming that “the whole 16th floor is on black magic.” And another said, “He’s shed some pounds! It’s excellent for him and the group that he puts his health first. Most likely, he’s on Ozempic or something similar not any of the other bs I’m reading in the comments..”

IU’s agency, EDAM, reports ongoing court proceedings and additional charges as they address severe online threats against her.

Korean singer-songwriter IU, also known as Lee Ji Eun, has taken decisive legal action against over 180 individuals involved in cyberbullying. These legal proceedings, initiated in 2023, are ongoing, with some cases already reaching the formal court hearing stage, according to the recent update from the agency.

IU files legal lawsuit against 180 individuals over cyber bullying

K-pop idols and celebrities frequently face online harassment, often seen as the darker side of fandom culture. In some cases, cyberstalking escalates to the point where idols are subjected to physical threats. On November 11 (KST), EDAM issued a statement announcing they had filed complaints citing severe harassment cases.

“Our agency, in collaboration with a law firm, has filed complaints targeting those who have engaged in criminal acts, including threats, defamation, malicious false accusations of plagiarism, death threats, privacy violations, sexual harassment, distribution of obscene content, creation and distribution of illegal deepfake materials and other illegal activities,” EDAM ent said in an official statement according to the Korea Times.

According to insiders, in addition to the 180 lawsuits already filed, more charges are lined up. One individual accused in the case also involves the singer’s former classmate. “Among them, there is one individual who is presumed to be a middle school classmate of IU. Despite the ongoing case, it has been found that they continue to harass IU. So, we are responding,” EDAM said.

The case which grabbed a lot of limelight back in 2023 resulted in a major controversy and has so far resulted in six fines, three cases with mandatory education, and one case with probation, according to the agency. Among these cases are accusations from April and May last year, where the singer was targeted with baseless claims of plagiarism.

EDAM also highlighted a particular case where IU faced serious online harassment, including false rumors, sexual harassment, and death threats. Prosecutors have requested a fine of 3 million won (about $2,240) for the person involved. The individual is reportedly appealing the sentence, with a formal trial yet to take place.

EDAM revealed that it has collaborated with “relevant” sources to track individuals using foreign IP addresses or living abroad in attempts to avoid legal trouble. In one case, a suspect accused IU of espionage, claiming she was a spy. However, progress has been delayed as the suspect has continually refused to appear for questioning. This case has now been handed over to the prosecution for further investigation.
