‘Can’t be ignored…’: Punjab Police on the terror aspect of the RPG attack in Mohali

Punjab police refused to rule out a terror connection in the rocket-propelled grenade attack on their headquarters in Mohali yesterday. ANI news agency cited senior officer Ravinder Pal Singh as stating, ‘It can’t be disregarded.’ We’re looking into it.’ forensic examinations were also underway, according to Pal Singh, Superintendent of Police (Mohali HQ).

A’minor explosion’ was reported at the Punjab Police Intelligence HQ in Mohali’s SAS Nagar district on Monday night.

“It can’t be overlooked. We’re looking into it… It’s a tiny explosion. Outside the building, an attack occurred. It was done with rocket-propelled fire. There were no casualties or losses. It is being investigated by our senior officers and the FSL team “he stated

Anyone attempting to disturb the tranquilly, according to Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, will be dealt with harshly. “In Mohali, police are investigating an explosion. Anyone who tries to degrade the atmosphere in Punjab will be punished severely “He sent out a tweet.

Mann met with the state’s top cop and other senior officers this morning. Later, he told reporters that some suspects had already been captured and that further information will be available by today evening.

Arvind Kejriwal, the Delhi chief minister whose Aam Aadmi Party defeated the Congress and came to power in Punjab in February, also tweeted about the blast, calling it a “cowardly act of people who wish to disturb the tranquilly of Punjab.”

A request to boost up security had apparently been made just hours before.

On one of the building’s stories, a rocket-propelled grenade, or RPG, smashed windowpanes. The explosion, on the other hand, caused no injuries.

The blast follows the receipt of two letters, one of which is said to be from a commander of the Pakistan-based terror group Jaish-e-Mohammad.

Attacks on railway stations, bridges, places of worship, and other key installations, as well as VIPs, were warned in the letters.

The incident comes just weeks after an explosive device was discovered at the Burail jail in Chandigarh.

It has also sparked an inevitable cycle of political retaliation, with the ousted Congress, the former state home minister, and others joining in.
