Chants for PM Modi in Berlin include “Vande Mataram” and “Bharat Mata Ki Jai”
Prime Minister Narendra Modi was greeted warmly by Indian expatriates in Berlin on Monday as he arrived in Germany for the first leg of his three-day European tour.
PM Modi was greeted by members of the Indian community who had gathered at the Hotel Adlon Kempinski in Berlin to welcome him. Many children were present at the hotel with their parents, waving their hands at the Prime Minister.
When the Prime Minister arrived, the crowd chanted “Vande Mataram” and “Bharat Mata ki Jai.”
The Prime Minister also had a conversation with a young girl who gave him a portrait of himself. He took a picture with the girl who referred to him as her icon and signed the portrait for her.
On the first leg of his trip to three European countries, the Prime Minister arrived at Berlin-Brandenburg Airport in Germany this morning. PM Modi expressed confidence upon his arrival that the visit would strengthen India-Germany friendship.
“I’ve arrived in Berlin. I’ll be meeting with Chancellor @OlafScholz, interacting with business leaders, and speaking at a community event today. I am confident that this visit will strengthen India-Germany relations “He sent out a tweet.
PM Modi will meet with newly appointed Chancellor Olaf Scholz for the first time during his visit to Germany. The 6th India-Germany Inter-Governmental Consultations will be co-chaired by PM Modi and Olaf Scholz (IGC).
Following the 6th IGC, PM Modi and Chancellor Scholz will meet with the top CEOs of both countries for a high-level roundtable. PM Modi will also speak to and interact with Indian expats in Germany.
Since 2001, India and Germany have had a “Strategic Partnership,” which has been bolstered by three rounds of intergovernmental consultations (IGC). PM Modi and German Federal Chancellor Angela Merkel, who recently visited India, co-chaired the last IGC. From October 31 to November 1, 2019, the fifth round of the IGC was held. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the consultations were postponed.
PM Modi’s three-nation visit will include bilateral and multilateral meetings with a substantial and comprehensive agenda.
On Tuesday, Prime Minister Modi will travel to Denmark for talks with leaders from the Nordic countries, as well as other high-level interactions. The trip will come to a close on Wednesday with a stopover in Paris, where the Prime Minister will meet with newly re-elected French President Emmanuel Macron.
