The I&B Department last month invoked Article 16 of the new digital media rules and blocked 20 YouTube channels and two websites that spread anti-Indian propaganda and fake news on the Internet.

Government sources further told News18.com that if any action is necessary, it must be based on the recommendations of the Ministry of Defense or the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Defense sources told News18.com that the video processed by Chinese Twitter and used for publicity was obviously not a new video, but was shot in China.

A national defense source said: “The permanent buildings in the video, and even the flat ground where Chinese soldiers are seen in the video, indicate that it was shot about 15 kilometers within the Chinese territory where their camp is located.”
