CIL notes a 28% decline in coal allocation held via e-auction in April

India’s largest coal producer, Coal India Limited (CIL) saw a 27.9% drop in its coal allocation to the power sector thanks to the electronic auction term in April.

The public sector company’s allocation under this scheme has increased from 27.12 million tonnes the previous year to 39.33 million tonnes currently.

Charcoal distribution targets long-term consumers who need charcoal for about a year and gives them access to bid through electronic auctions.

The system provides all consumers with an equal opportunity to purchase charcoal at a price set by them through online tendering through one-stop-shop services.
