India has reported 54,069 new COVID-19 cases and 1,321 deaths in the last 24 hours

India recorded 54,069 new coronavirus cases of Covid-19 and 1,321 deaths in the last 24 hours, taking the total tally to 3,00,82,778 on Thursday.

The active caseload in India dropped to 6.27 lakh while recovery rate improved to 96.61 per cent, according to the data released by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare on Thursday morning. More than 71 per cent of the new cases were reported from five states, with Kerala alone responsible for 23.65 per cent of the new cases.

The top five states which registered maximum Covid cases included Kerala with 12,787 cases, followed by Maharashtra with 10,066 cases, Tamil Nadu with 6,596 cases, Andhra Pradesh with 4,684 cases and Karnataka with 4,436 cases. Maximum casualties, meanwhile, were reported in Maharashtra (508), followed by Tamil Nadu (166).

India administered a total of 64,89,599 doses in the last 24 hours, following which the total vaccination tally reached 30,16,26,028. India had on Wednesday recorded less than 51,000 Covid-19 cases.
