Indian Army launches indigenous messaging application called ASIGMA
The Indian Army has launched a messaging application with functions such as multi-level security and message priority.
The Department of Defense said in a statement on Thursday that the Army’s Secure Local Messaging Application (ASIGMA) is a new generation of most advanced web-based applications. It added that a Signal Corps team had developed it internally.
The ministry stated that the application is being deployed to replace the Army Wide Area Network messaging application that has been in use for 15 years.
“The application (ASIGMA) has been deployed on Army-owned hardware and can provide lifetime support in future upgrades. The customized messaging application meets all future user needs and has an enhanced user experience,” the statement said.
The ministry stated that the application will meet the military’s real-time data transmission and messaging requirements, especially in the context of the current geopolitical security environment. It added that the application complies with the government’s “Made in India” plan.
“The Indian Army supports automation to a large extent, especially after the Covid-19 outbreak, and is taking substantial steps towards paperless operations. ASIGMA will further promote these efforts and will increase the number of troops already in its captives. The host of other applications used on the Pan-Army network,” the ministry said.
