Mani Ratnam’s Bombay was suggested to Manisha Koirala, who refused

Actress Manisha Koirala became one of the most well-known performers of the 1990s after her breakout performance in the 1991 film Saudagar. She appeared in a number of movies, but many people still consider her best work to be in Bombay by Mani Ratnam. But she once admitted that during her peak years in Bollywood, she was advised not to sign up for the movie in which she played a mother.

“When I was offered the role of Bombay, people advised me against accepting it because I was playing a mother in my 20s and they believed that within the next ten years, I would be playing grandmothers. However, I listened to the other, wiser individuals who advised me against rejecting a Mani.3

Manisha and Arvind Swami were the stars of the Mani Ratnam-directed film Bombay. The film is based on the struggles of an interfaith couple in Bombay before and during the riots that broke out after the Babri Masjid was demolished. It was released a year after Manisha’s 1942: A Love Story, another popular movie with Anil Kapoor.

In the Sanjay Dutt biopic Sanju, Manisha was most recently spotted. She portrayed Ranbir Kapoor’s mother in the film. In addition to this, she appeared in Maska on Netflix. In addition to Shirley Setia, Nikita Dutta, Prit Kamani, and Javed Jaffrey, it was directed by Neeraj Udhwani. The actor will reportedly appear in Kartik Aaryan’s upcoming film Shehzada, according to reports.

Manish, who has previously battled cancer, stated that she wants to take things slowly when it comes to going back to work. We work in a field where “out of sight, out of mind” is the norm, so one tends to be productive all the time. In the beginning of my career, I exhibited those tendencies. I now take extra care to avoid entering that area. You have more vigour and zeal when you’re in your twenties. However, in your 40s, you should proceed more slowly. Your perspective on the world shifts, and you change,” she told the news agency PTI.

Family Star review

The Hindustan Times’ review of the movie Family Star, starring Vijay Deverakonda and directed by Parasuram Petla, suggests that the film struggles to make a mark or entertain, with issues reminiscent of Geetha Govindam (2018). The film tests patience and fails to maintain interest as it progresses.

The review criticizes the plot of Family Star, stating that it is thin and defies logic, making it difficult to enjoy. It also suggests that the film’s portrayal of middle-class life is caricaturish, as if it was written by someone unfamiliar with the realities of such a life.
