‘Pandya is a bit like Kohli’: Ex-Australia spinner makes tall claim
Since the Ahmedabad Indian Premier League (IPL) team announced their selection of Hardik Pandya as captain for the upcoming IPL 2022 season, the cricket fraternity has been busy and understands the decision. The latest to join the discussion is former Australian spinner Brad Hogg.
The new team selected generalist Pandya as their first-round pick, followed by Rashid Khan and Shubman Gill. Additionally, they hired former Indian striker Ashsh Nehra as their head coach.
Hogg, speaking about Pandya’s captain in a video on his YouTube channel, quipped that he is very similar to former India captain Virat Kohli and can be a good captain.
“Pandya can be a really good captain because he’s a bit like Kohli. He wants to go there and dominate. His body language says, ‘I’m here to beat you,’” he said.
Talking about Nehra and Pandya’s partnership, Hogg believes that while he’s happy to see the two work together, he’d like to see the former curb a habit of his.
“Hardik Pandya and Ashish Nehra are both exciting figures in Ahmedabad. When they have a team together, they have to understand and also have different personalities. Don’t give 100 pieces of advice to the highest scoring bowler, ‘ Hogg explained.

Gambhir acknowledges that his “sole regret in seven years of captaincy” is Suryakumar Yadav: “KKR failed to recognise his potential.”
Throughout his incredible career with the Mumbai Indians since 2018, Suryakumar Yadav has become a household name. In an interview with Sportskeeda on Monday, Gambhir said that his biggest regret as KKR captain is that he failed to recognise Suryakumar’s ability or his ideal batting position in the lineup.

If there’s one thing I regret from my seven years as captain, it’s that neither I nor the squad were able to fully utilise Suryakumar Yadav. And combinations were the key to the cause. Gambhir went on to praise Suruyakumar for being a team player, citing the reason behind his appointment as the team’s vice-captain in 2015.
He was a team player as well. A good player may be anyone, but becoming a team player takes skill. Playing him at No. 6 or 7 or benching him, he was constantly grinning and eager to contribute to the squad. He went on, “That’s why we named him vice captain.”
