Prime Minister Narendra Modi will interact with district magistrates on Saturday to hear their direct feedback on the progress and status of implementation of various government programs and programs, his office announced. In a statement, the PMO said the meeting will be held via video conference around 11 a.m.

The interaction was designed to review performance and identify challenges faced by local officials, the release said.

The PMO said it also aims to integrate with all stakeholders to saturate various programs across regions and sectors in mission mode.

The PMO also said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the central government has continued to take multiple measures to overcome asymmetries in growth and development across the country. “This meeting is in line with the Centre’s same commitment to improving the living standards of all citizens and ensuring inclusive growth for all,” it also said.

The meeting comes as the country battles a new wave of Covid-19 cases, with the daily number of cases jumping to nearly 350,000. The last time daily cases crossed the 300,000 mark was during the country’s second wave in April last year. The country recorded 3,47,254 new Covid-19 cases on Friday, according to the Union Health Ministry. The country also recorded 703 deaths in 24 hours, bringing the death toll to 488,396. The total number of cases was 3,85,66,027.

On Friday, the central government said Covid-19 vaccinations, including preventive doses, for individuals with laboratory-confirmed coronavirus infection will be delayed for three months after recovery.

The recommendation is based on scientific evidence and the recommendations of the National Immunization Technical Advisory Group, Federal Health Undersecretary Vikas Hill said in a letter to all states and federal territories.
