The strong internals and dynamic jet-engine-like camera design of vivo’s new Series-T phones impress.

The vivo T1 Pro 5G is a mighty beast indeed, with the best 5G processor in its class, an incredibly fast 66W charger, a stunning AMOLED display, impressive speakers, and a 64 MP AI triple camera array.

When you add in a glitter AG texture on the back panel, a rear camera array shaped like jet engine intakes, and a super-strong nano-coating designed to give the phone a premium feel, you’ve got yourself a very special smartphone.

The T1 44W, a sibling of the T1 Pro, completes the set. This is a more budget-friendly option that prioritises quality and user experience, and it includes a 44 W Flash Charge unit, as the name implies. The design is more straightforward, but it is still elegant and comfortable to use.

The T1 Pro is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 778G SoC, an octa-core platform with a 2.4 GHz clock speed built on a 6 nm manufacturing process. It has a gaming-optimized GPU, an x53 5G modem, and a powerful AI chip in the form of the Hexagon 770. Up to 8 GB of RAM and 128 GB of high-speed storage are capable of supporting this chip.

The Snapdragon 680 — another 6 nm processor — is used in the T1 44W, along with 8 GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage.

Both phones can use Extended RAM 2.0 to borrow an additional 4 GB of memory from their internal storage, which can be expanded to 1 TB using microSD cards.

The T1 Pro uses a ‘flagship-level’ 8-layer cooling system, according to vivo. It has a 2,097 square mm vapour chamber with a 32,923 square mm effective cooling area. This should translate to lag-free gameplay at the highest supported settings for gamers. In fact, vivo has gone above and beyond to make gaming more immersive and responsive by incorporating a powerful, calibrated Z-axis linear motor.

The SD680 in the T1 44W boosts single-core performance by 20% and GPU performance by 10% over its predecessor, resulting in a significant performance boost.

Both phones have powerful Flash Charge units, which is impressive. The T1 Pro has a 66 W unit that charges your phone to 50% in 18 minutes, while the T1 44W has a 44 W unit.

The former has a slightly smaller 4,700 mAh battery than the latter, which has a larger 5,000 mAh battery.

To ensure safety and charging speed, that power is carefully pumped into the batteries using an industry-leading charging pump and FFC technology.

The T1 Pro 5G has a large speaker housed in a 0.9 cc sound cavity, which should result in better bass and overall sound quality.

The T1 44W is Hi-Res Audio certified and has Audio Super Resolution support.

Both phones feature stunning FHD+ AMOLED displays with near-infinite contrast ratios and 400+ PPI. The T1 Pro, on the other hand, has a 90 Hz refresh rate and a peak brightness of 1,300 nits for a better HDR experience. Both phones support the DCI-P3 colour gamut, which ensures that photos and videos look vibrant.

The T1 Pro has a 64 MP F1.79 main camera, 8 MP 117° ultra-wide angle camera and a macro camera that focuses as close as 4 cm. The T1 44W has a 50 MP main camera paired with a 2 MP bokeh camera and 2 MP macro camera. Both have AI features such as Super Night Mode for denoising and multi-frame merging, City Night Filters, and more on both phones help you capture great images in any light.

The vivo T1 Pro 5G and T1 44W will go on sale in India from 7-8 May with prices starting at Rs 23,999 and Rs 14,999 respectively. Users of ICICI, SBI, IDFC First Bank, and OneCard users will be eligible for additional benefits of up to Rs 2,500 and Rs 1,500 on the purchase of these two phones.

Surfaces of the Motorola Edge 50 Ultra with Snapdragon 8S Gen 3

Early this week, renders of the Edge 50 Fusion appeared, and Motorola has previously stated that the Edge 50 Pro will ship on April 3. The highest-end smartphone in the Edge 50 series, the Edge 50 Ultra, has now been shown in renders.

The phone is depicted in the renderings in peach fuzz and black with a vegan leather finish, while sisal, a beige color, will have a brushed surface. As opposed to the Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 in the Pro variant and the Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 in the Edge 50 Fusion, the phone is reportedly powered by the Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 SoC.

A 50MP primary camera, an ultra-wide camera, and a periscope telephoto camera with a 5x optical zoom are all included in the Motorola Edge 50 Ultra’s feature set. Additionally, there is a triple LED flash on the right side and a laser autofocus feature above the periscope lens.

Although the phone’s display, battery, and charging specifications are yet unknown, the Edge 50 Pro is said to include 12GB of RAM and support both 50W and 125W wired and wireless charging.

It is anticipated that this will launch as the Motorola X50 Ultra in China. It is unclear if the India launch may be expected on the same day as the rest of the Edge 50 series phones, even if this is scheduled to go official on April 3.
