Censor Board Review Committee Evaluates Akshay Kumar’s Oh My God 2 for Approval

The Indian film industry often finds itself embroiled in controversies surrounding content and messaging. In a bid to preempt potential controversies, the censor board review committee recently took the proactive step of assessing Akshay Kumar’s highly anticipated film, Oh My God 2, for approval. In this blog post, we explore the significance of this decision and the industry’s ongoing efforts to strike a balance between creative expression and social sensitivity.

Controversy has become an integral part of Bollywood, with films occasionally facing backlash due to perceived objectionable content or themes that challenge established norms. In recent years, the industry has witnessed intense debates surrounding religious sentiments, cultural portrayals, and social messaging. Recognizing the potential impact of these controversies, the censor board review committee stepped in to review Akshay Kumar’s Oh My God 2 before its release.

Oh My God 2, the sequel to the critically acclaimed 2012 film, follows a thought-provoking narrative that explores religion, spirituality, and the exploitation of faith for personal gain. The film raises pertinent questions and challenges societal practices while emphasizing the importance of individual beliefs and the power of humanity. Given the sensitive nature of the subject matter, the film’s potential to generate controversy warranted a cautious approach.

The censor board review committee plays a vital role in assessing films to ensure they comply with established guidelines and do not offend or hurt public sentiments. By voluntarily submitting Oh My God 2 for pre-approval, the film’s producers and Akshay Kumar exhibited a proactive approach, indicating their willingness to engage in a constructive dialogue with the censor board to address any concerns.

The decision to submit Oh My God 2 to the censor board review committee highlights the ongoing effort within the film industry to strike a balance between creative expression and social sensitivity. Filmmakers understand the significance of delivering narratives that provoke thought and challenge societal norms, while also respecting cultural and religious sentiments. The role of the censor board review committee is instrumental in ensuring this balance is maintained.

Submitting films for review by the censor board review committee can foster open dialogue and provide an opportunity for filmmakers to address potential controversies before they arise. This proactive approach encourages a collaborative environment where concerns can be discussed, and necessary modifications can be made, preserving the essence of the film while minimizing the risk of causing offense.

The proactive step taken by the censor board review committee and the producers of Oh My God 2 signifies a maturing film industry that is willing to engage in constructive conversations. This approach can lead to a more inclusive and understanding society, where filmmakers can freely express their creative vision without fear of undue controversy. The industry’s continuous efforts to balance creative freedom with social responsibility contribute to the growth and evolution of Indian cinema.

Food blogger attacked by Swara Bhasker for boasting about being a vegetarian on Twitter: “Smug self-righteousness”

In response to food blogger Nalini Unagar’s “proud to be a vegetarian” tweet, actor Swara Bhasker attacked Unagar. On Sunday, Nalini posted a photo of her lunch at X. It included a paneer dish and fried rice.

What was said by the food blogger?
Nalini shared the picture and added, “I’m happy to be a vegetarian. There are no more tears, cruelty, or guilt on my platter.”

This is Swara’s response.
In response, Swara penned, “To be honest… I find vegetarians’ arrogant self-righteousness to be incomprehensible. Denying the calf its mother’s milk, forcing cows to become pregnant, ripping them from their calves, and taking their milk are the main components of your diet.”

Furthermore, she said, “You eat root vegetables? That eliminates the entire plant! Just because it’s Bakr Eid, don’t stress about virtue signalling (folded hands emojis). June 16–17 is when Bakr Eid, or Eid al-Adha, is observed.

Swara just had her Eid celebration.
A few months after celebrating Eid al-Fitr, Swara posted a tweet. She celebrated the occasion with her daughter Raabiyaa and spouse Fahad Ahmad. On her Instagram Stories, Swara posted snippets of her Eid festivities. Swara and Raabiyaa were shown in one of the stories pointing at the Eid ka Chaand. Another photo shows Swara, her daughter, and Fahad posing as a family. Fahad is Muslim, but Swara is Hindu.

When Swara discussed the cultures of her and Fahad
Swara performed a chhathi puja for Raabiyaa the previous year. She revealed tidbits from the festivities and reported discovering shared cultural experiences with Fahad’s family. “The child is a mish mash of the mish mash we are,” Swara had wrote. She therefore has 62.5% UP, 12.5% Bihar, and 25% Andhra. Furthermore, I support representation and am always up for a celebration! Furthermore, since our wedding, we’ve learned that Muslims and Hindus in North India have common cultural customs, which strengthens my conviction that, despite our variety, love and joy will always find a language.”

“Chhathhi, or the sixth day of a child’s birth, is celebrated throughout UP Bihar. Mom and kid dress in the colour of turmeric or haldi, and aunts or bua put kaajal on the child and parents to protect them from ‘nazar,’ or the evil eye! I’m performing a well-known “sohar”—celebration songs for new babies. Although sohars are often used to celebrate newborn boys, I customised it for a newborn girl—oh! And although sisters and aunts sing the sohars, mothers don’t, so I thought, “Why not?” Dholak aa gaya hai! Thank you to @manisha2967 for the Chhathhi lesson and the beautiful singing I was able to do, and to Bhanu ji @partapsinghb11 for the dholak that helped make my singing pleasant.
