Tried keeping party & family together, failed: Chirag Paswan

There is a split in the Lok Janshakti Party (LJP). Five of the party’s six Lok Sabha members came together to remove party president Chirag Paswan from the post of the party’s leader in the Lok Sabha and elected his uncle Pashupati Kumar Paras for the post.

Now the reaction of Chirag Paswan, son of national president and party founder Ram Vilas Paswan, has come to the fore. He has also shared a 6-page letter on Twitter, which he wrote to his uncle i.e. Pashupati Kumar Paras on March 29 this year.

Chirag has written, ‘I tried but failed to keep this party made by Papa and my family together. Party is like a mother and the mother should not be cheated. In a democracy, the people are paramount. I thank the people who have faith in the party. I share an old letter.’

In this 6-page letter, Chirag has told how tension has been brewing in the party for a long time. This tension was there even when Paswan was alive. Paras was not happy with Chirag being given the command of the party.

He did not take part in party activities. Its effect was visible in the family as well. Chirag has written clearly many things in the letter, so that the whole controversy can be understood.

Earlier, Hajipur MP Paras had said, ‘I have not broken the party, but have saved it. 99 percent of LJP workers are unhappy with the party’s fight and poor performance against JD(U) in the Bihar 2020 assembly elections under Paswan’s leadership.

Paras said his faction will continue to be a part of the BJP-led NDA government and Paswan may also continue to be a part of the organisation.
