Union Minister Anurag Thakur on Friday slammed Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD) chief Jayant Chaudhary for not being in Uttar Pradesh a day earlier Voting in the first stage of the parliamentary elections, saying it clearly showed “their view of democracy.

Chowdhury’s party is contesting the election in an alliance with the Samajwadi Party (SP), and he is a voter in Mathura, one of 58 districts to vote on Thursday. According to the RLD, he was unable to vote because his district will have a second phase of voting on February 14.

However, Jayant Chaudhary’s wife, also a Mathura voter, Charu Chaudhary, voted.

Meanwhile, Chief Lok Dal has come under fire from the ruling party, with leaders such as BJP national chairman JP Nadda targeting him.
Not to be outdone, Chaudhry also chimed in that the BJP’s response showed it “cares” about him again.
Assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh will be held in seven phases, with rounds 3-7 to be held on February 20, 23, 27, March 3 and 7. Counting of votes in all 403 parliamentary constituencies will take place on March 10.
