WHY DO WE NEED FEMINISM?
The World Health Organisation’s report states that 1 out of every 3 women in the world is subjected to physical or sexual violence. Violence against women is one of the main concerns in major parts of the world. Women not only have to live in an unsafe world but also their basic rights like the right to work, right to vote, right to education have been taken away in many countries. Our society is obsessed with gender roles. It believes that what a man can do women cannot or should not. And that is why we need feminism.
Feminism is about asking for equality in society, Equal rights, opportunities, pay, and status. Feminism is not about hating men or considering women superior but it means every human should be treated equally despite their gender, sexuality, form, or race.
Women have been oppressed for years and we need feminism to stop the oppression. Sexual violence, Domestic assaults, Child marriages, illiteracy, the dowry system, low wages there is a countess of injustice that society is practicing against women and that is why we need feminism.
Women have proved themselves to the world time and again but they are still paid 23% less than men for the same work. Sexual assaults are justified by our short clothes and women are expected to stop working and do household chores after marriages. In India, a hefty amount is paid from the bride’s family to the groom in the form of dowry. For the longest time, women did not have the right to vote in Saudi Arabia. Abortion is illegal in the united states and its territories We need feminism to stop ill-treating women. Feminism demands the presence of women in every field. We need feminism because men and women are alike and they should be treated as equals.
