Xiaomi 12 Pro: New Android flagship to beat launches with Sony IMX707 camera sensor, 120 W charging and a Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chipset

Xiaomi released its Mi 12 Pro, the number one smartphone in the first half of 2022. The company is currently only exhibiting in China, and the company hinted that Xiaomi 12 Pro and its non-Pro sibling products should eventually be launched in other markets.

Unsurprisingly, Xiaomi filled the Mi 12 Pro with flagship hardware, including Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 SoC, LPDDR5 RAM and UFS 3.1 storage. In addition, the device has a 6.73-inch display, a refresh rate of 120 Hz, a touch sampling rate of 480 Hz, and a resolution of 1,440 x 3,200 pixels. The long side of the AMOLED panel also has a slight curvature, the LTPO backplane and the fingerprint scanner under the screen. In addition, Xiaomi also integrates a 4600 mAh battery that supports 120W wired charging and 50W wireless charging. By the way, Mi 12 Pro can wirelessly charge other devices with up to 10 W of power. Xiaomi’s Surge P1 chip can handle the impressive charging power of the device.

In addition, the Mi 12 Pro is equipped with three 50 MP rear cameras and a 32 MP front camera. Mi 12 Pro is also the first smartphone equipped with Sony IMX707, which is a 1/1.28 inch camera sensor with f/1.9 aperture. The Mi 12 Pro does not have a dedicated zoom lens, instead a portrait and ultra-wide-angle camera.

The Mi 12 Pro can already be ordered in China, starting at RMB 4,699 (approximately US$738), with 8 GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage space. The device is available in four colors and has up to 12 GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage space.

Surfaces of the Motorola Edge 50 Ultra with Snapdragon 8S Gen 3

Early this week, renders of the Edge 50 Fusion appeared, and Motorola has previously stated that the Edge 50 Pro will ship on April 3. The highest-end smartphone in the Edge 50 series, the Edge 50 Ultra, has now been shown in renders.

The phone is depicted in the renderings in peach fuzz and black with a vegan leather finish, while sisal, a beige color, will have a brushed surface. As opposed to the Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 in the Pro variant and the Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 in the Edge 50 Fusion, the phone is reportedly powered by the Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 SoC.

A 50MP primary camera, an ultra-wide camera, and a periscope telephoto camera with a 5x optical zoom are all included in the Motorola Edge 50 Ultra’s feature set. Additionally, there is a triple LED flash on the right side and a laser autofocus feature above the periscope lens.

Although the phone’s display, battery, and charging specifications are yet unknown, the Edge 50 Pro is said to include 12GB of RAM and support both 50W and 125W wired and wireless charging.

It is anticipated that this will launch as the Motorola X50 Ultra in China. It is unclear if the India launch may be expected on the same day as the rest of the Edge 50 series phones, even if this is scheduled to go official on April 3.
