‘You want to ban industries in Pakistan’: CJI after UP blames Pak for pollution

The Uttar Pradesh government told the Supreme Court on Friday that the UP industry has no effect on NCR’s increasing pollution, and the polluted air from Pakistan has worsened the air quality in the capital. “So you want to ban Pakistan’s industry?” The Chief Justice of India NV Ramana responded.

Senior lawyer Ranjit Kumar, representing the UP government, told the Supreme Court that the air quality in Delhi is affected by the polluted air from Pakistan. He said that the eight-hour business window is affecting the sugar cane and milk industries in Uttar Pradesh. The judge led by CJI asked UP lawyers to go to the teh committee with dissatisfaction and let them make a decision on this issue. The Supreme Court judge has set a 24-hour deadline and can take specific actions to deal with rising pollution levels.

After hearing the measures taken in the past 24 hours, the court allowed the Delhi government to continue the construction of the hospital.

The committee informed the Supreme Court that a five-person law enforcement task force has been established to control air pollution in Delhi and NCR. The group stated that approximately 40 such groups will monitor the implementation of its recommended pollution control measures. Seventeen such flying teams have been formed to ensure the implementation of various measures authorized by the courts and expert groups. The affidavit says that this number will increase to 40 within 24 hours.
