750 died during Farmers Protest, no condolence from centre: Farmer Leader

Bharatiya Kisan Union (BKU) leader Rakesh Tikait attacked the central government on Sunday and said that the Indian government did not express condolences for the death of farmers in the farm movement. In an interview with Source, Mr. Tikait said: “About 750 farmers were killed in the farm movement.

The Indian government did not express condolences. The farmers in this country believe that maybe Prime Minister Modi is not a’farmer’ prime minister… Think about them ( Farmers) are separated from the state.” Earlier Friday, Mr. Tikait also stated that farmers would not leave the protests and go anywhere. “The country’s farmers will not leave the protest and go anywhere. If the government can run for five years, then this kind of people’s approval of the protest will continue until the Indian government fails to pass the law ensuring MSP and repeal the three agricultural laws,” He added.

Since November 26 last year, farmers have been protesting three agricultural laws in different places: the Farmers’ Agricultural Products Trade and Commerce (Promotion and Facilitation) Act 2020; the 2020 Price Guarantee and Farm Services Law Agreement and the 2020 Basic Commodity (Revision) Act. The farmer leaders and the center have held several rounds of talks, but the deadlock still exists.
