Private tutor arrested for raping 6-year-old girl in Rajasthan’s Kota
Police said on Monday that a private teacher was arrested for raping a 6-year-old girl in Kozinwa Village, Kota District, Rajasthan. They added that a special court that handles cases registered under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act (POCSO) has remanded the defendant Abdul Rahim (43 years old) in custody awaiting trial.
Rahim once provided private tutoring in Urdu for the children and lived in a room allocated by the local religious school. The police said he was from Lampura in Kota. Later on Sunday, the parents of the six-year-old girl received a complaint against the defendant at the Digod Police Station, claiming that Raheem had asked her to stay at school and asked other students to leave after class on Saturday afternoon and raped her.
The police said that after arriving home, the girl told her parents what happened to her. They stated that the defendant was arrested shortly after the case was filed and added that he had been arrested in accordance with Article 376 (Rape) of the Indian Penal Code and relevant parts of the POCSO Law.
The girl was sent for a medical examination, and her statement was recorded by the police, according to Article 164 of the Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC).
