Somnath Temple circuit house inauguration: PM Modi lists 4 ways to boost tourism sector

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi unveiled a new circuit house on Friday near the iconic Somnath Temple in his home state of Gujarat. Speaking at the rally, Prime Minister Narendra Modi listed four ways to boost tourism in the country – cleanliness, facilities, time and thinking. “Today, the country looks at tourism in a holistic way. So here are four things we need to do to drive the industry,” he said.

Talking about cleanliness, Modi said earlier, tourist attractions and even pilgrimage sites did not perform well in this regard. However, it was his government’s Swachh Bharat Abhiyan which brought about a change.

Prime Minister Modi believes that facilities should not be limited to tourist attractions. “Facilities are transport, internet, correct information, health care, etc. Today, a full range of work is being done in that direction,” he said.

The Prime Minister equated time with a game of cricket and said it was important because today people want to cover a lot of places in a short amount of time. Last but not least, Modi said modern and innovative thought processes are welcome, but equally important is how proud we are of our ancient heritage.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi further listed the initiatives his government has taken to honour prominent personalities. “After independence, Delhi only built buildings for selected families. However, it was this government that built the Baba Saheb memorial in Delhi and the APJ Abdul Kalam memorial in Rameshwaram. Likewise, concern with Subhas Chandra Bose and Shyamji Krishna Varma relevant places,” he said.

About Somnath Temple Circuit House:

According to a release from the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO), the construction cost of the new facility is Rs 300 crore. Since the existing circuit house was far from the temple, a new circuit house was needed. This new facility features VIP and deluxe rooms, suites, meeting rooms, auditoriums and more.
