Gambhir’s strict speech after LSG’s huge loss; ‘We gave up. We were weak’

Following the IPL franchise’s heavy 62-run defeat to Gujarat Titans in Pune on Tuesday, former cricketer Gautam Gambhir delivered a stern dressing room speech to all players of the Lucknow Super Giants. LSG struggled with the bat, being bowled out for just 82 in a 145-run chase. Only two players, Quinton de Kock and Deepak Hooda, reached double figures as the rest of the batting collapsed under the pressure of Rashid Khan’s 4/24 and the GT bowlers’ discipline. In three overs, Mohammed Shami conceded only five runs, while R Sai Kishore and Yash Dayal each took two wickets.

After a long night, team mentor Gambhir addressed the team with encouraging words while highlighting the areas where the team fell short on Tuesday evening.

“There’s nothing wrong with losing, after all. It’s perfectly fine. One team must win, while the other must lose. However, there are numerous flaws in giving me. I thought we’d given up today. We were weak, and being weak in a tournament like the IPL or in sports has no place. That is the source of the issue. In this competition, we have defeated teams and played excellent cricket. But today I realised that we were missing something more important: game sense “According to Gambhir.

“We knew they bowled well, and we expect them to continue to do so. You’re competing against international bowlers in a world-class competition. Without a doubt, we want people to challenge us. That is why we participate in sports. We practise every day because we enjoy being challenged.”

Gujarat Titans became the first team to qualify for the IPL 2022 playoffs as a result of the result, while LSG are still looking for at least one more win to join the Titans in the top four. LSG has two more league games left, against Rajasthan Royals on May 15 and Kolkata Knight Riders on May 18.
