‘Against my self respect’: Lecturer quits amid Karnataka hijab row

A guest lecturer at Tumkuru Jain PU College Karnataka has resigned over controversy over restrictions on wearing the hijab (hijab) in educational institutions, sparking a massive debate.

The Karnataka High Court has heard some petitions against the government order.

Students and teachers in the southern state were told not to wear headscarves, saffron shawls or any religious symbols in classrooms, according to a preliminary Supreme Court order last week.

“I have been a guest lecturer at Jain PU Academy for three years. During these three years I have had no problems at all and have been very comfortable with the job. But yesterday morning our director called us and told us not to Wear a headscarf or depict religious symbols, they have orders,” said guest lecturer Chandini.

“So for the past three years I’ve been teaching conducting in a hijab. This (restriction) goes against my self-esteem, so I quit. I can’t work at this university without my hijab,” she circulated online. A recorded video message added.

“I condemn your undemocratic behavior,” she wrote at the end of her handwritten resignation letter.

The hijab collection started a few weeks ago in Udupi, Karnataka. sparked a national debate.

Amid the mass protests, schools and universities were closed for about a week and large gatherings were banned in parts of the state.

The Karnataka Supreme Court will hear the matter further on Friday afternoon.

In an interview with Times Now, she questioned whether she joined politics due to her movies’ poor box office performance, comparing it to Shah Rukh Khan’s previous unsuccessful films.

Kangana responded to a question about her career, stating that she has never had a flop. She compared Shah Rukh Khan’s films to Pathaan, Queen, and Manikarnika, noting that if she had a flop in Emergency, it would be a big hit. Kangana compared her career to Shah Rukh Khan, who had consecutive flops for ten years. She also mentioned that she had not had a single hit for 7-8 years before Queen, but after that, she had a few good movies.

No stars from OTT?

The last generation of stars, known for their talent and demand, are now able to showcase their talents more through OTT.
