After a series of meetings with health officials, the Election Commission of India on Saturday announced the timetable for parliamentary elections to be held in Goa, Punjab, Manipur, Uttarakhand and Uttar Pradesh on Saturday. Of the 5 states polled, the BJP is in power in 4 states including Goa, Manipur, Uttarakhand and Uttar Pradesh. While the term of the current Uttar Pradesh assembly will end in May, the terms of the other four assemblies will end on different dates in March.

“People in Uttar Pradesh are set to bid farewell to the BJP government. These dates will mark a huge change in the state. Rules will be followed by Samajwadi Party, but the Election Commission should make sure the ruling party follows these guidelines,” Akhilesh Yadav said.

Congress leader Harish Rawat said the party always abides by the code of conduct and the guidelines set by the Election commission. “We welcome the announcement of election dates for Uttarakhand,” Harish Rawat said.

Fully prepared, says Punjab BJP in-charge

Union minister and Punjab BJP in-charge Gajendra S Shekhawat said the BJP is fully prepated for the polls. “I’d like to appeal to the Election Commission, as well as the Punjab DGP, to ensure a free & fair election, as per EC’s guidelines,” he said.

Partha Sarathi Deb passed away on Friday, and his remains were taken to Technician’s Studio at 12 pm.

Bengali actor Partha Sarathi Deb, aged 68, passed away at a Kolkata hospital while undergoing treatment, according to his family.

Partha passed away at 11:50 pm on Friday night due to COPD-related ailments. He had been admitted to state-run M R Bangur hospital for the last month, and his condition worsened over the past week, and he was in the ICU.

Jeet honours Rupanjana with a lengthy message

Actor Jeet expressed sadness over the loss of colleague and WBAF committee member Partha Sarathi Deb on X, sharing a photo and offering condolences to his bereaved family and friends.

Actress Rupanjana Mitra announced the news on Facebook, writing a lengthy note in Bengali.

Partha, the vice president of the West Bengal Motion Picture Artists Forum, condoled the death of actor Amit Shah and announced that his body would be taken to Technician Studio, a familiar place for him.

The forum is deeply saddened by the actor’s passing and will keep his remains at Technician’s Studio on March 23, where his loved ones, teammates, and well-wishers can pay their last respects.
