Bill to repeal three farm laws to be introduced in Lok Sabha

Federal Minister of Agriculture Narendra Singh Tomar (Narendra Singh Tomar) will propose a bill in the House of Commons on Monday to repeal the three agricultural laws that were promulgated in 1999 and sparked prolonged protests.

The bill stated that “only a small proportion of farmers are protesting” the legislation, and it also stated that it will take time to lead everyone to achieve inclusive growth.

This month, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced the revocation of the law and stated that the government had failed to convince some farmers.

The monsoon meeting of the parliament was disrupted by protests against the agricultural law and suspected use of the Pegasus spyware. The Bharatiya Janata Party and the main opposition Congress have issued whips to their legislators, asking them to stay in the House of Representatives on the first day of the Winter Conference.

Congress requested a resolution of condolences for farmers who lost their lives in a year-long protest against the agricultural law. Federal Minister of Health Mansouk Mandavia will introduce the Assisted Reproductive Technology (Regulations) Bill separately in the House of Commons. The proposed law was introduced in the House of Commons in September 2020 and submitted to a parliamentary committee in March.

In Rajya Sabha, Federal Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat will introduce the Dam Safety Act, which aims to provide guarantees for the supervision, inspection, operation and maintenance of the dam.
