Centre to hold review meet with states, UTs today over omicron variant

A person familiar with the matter told the Hindustan Times that Federal Minister of Health Rajesh Bhushan will hold a review meeting with officials from all states and federal territories on the omicron variant of the coronavirus on Tuesday. They added that the meeting is expected to be held at 10.30 am.

The center said on Monday that no omicron variant cases have been found in the country, but pointed out that two clusters in Maharashtra and Karnataka are under investigation. In Maharashtra, residents of Dombivali district tested positive for Covid-19 in Thane district, which returned from South Africa on November 24.

An official said on Sunday that it has not been confirmed whether the man is carrying the variant. The official added that he had been tested for Covid-19 and the result was positive.

In Karnataka, the state government has ordered precautionary measures to be taken in Dakshina, Kannada, Madikeri, Chamarajanagar, and Maisuru, which border neighboring states of Kerala. Minister Basavaraj Bommai pointed out that the prevalence of Covid-19 is high among people coming to Karnataka from Kerala, Hindustan, “The Times” reported. With the discovery of the European and American light that was first discovered in South Africa, it began to make global headlines last week, and countries around the world are once again on high alert to prevent its spread.

The World Health Organization (WHO) earlier classified omicron as a worrying variant, and on Monday warned that the variant poses a “very high risk”, adding that it could cause a surge with “serious consequences” .

The WHO said that although scientists are racing to find evidence to better understand this variation, countries should speed up vaccination as soon as possible.

Kangana compared her career to Shah Rukh Khan, who had consecutive flops for ten years. She also mentioned that she had not had a single hit for 7-8 years before Queen, but after that, she had a few good movies.
