Instagram down: Facebook says sorry for second outage in a week, services now back up

During the most recent outage, some users reported on Twitter that they were unable to load their Instagram feeds, and some users were unable to send messages on Messenger. On Friday night, many users shut down Instagram, and Facebook Messenger was also affected.

This is the second power outage in a week. However, this outage is not as severe as the global outage affecting the three major social media applications (including WhatsApp, Facebook and Instagram). It took six hours for Facebook to resume service. But this time the Instagram interruption was relatively short, and Facebook was able to bring the application back to life quite quickly. Facebook acknowledged the problem on Twitter and apologized to users for the second outage in a week.

“We know that some people are having problems accessing our apps and products. We are working hard to get everything back to normal as soon as possible. We apologize for any inconvenience caused to you. If you have not been able to We apologize for visiting our products. We know how much you rely on our communication with each other. We solved this problem-thank you again for your patience this week,” Facebook posted on Twitter. Facebook earlier blamed the wrong configuration changes, but it did not disclose the reason behind the second outage. During the most recent outage, some users reported on Twitter that they were unable to load their Instagram feeds, and some users were unable to send messages on Messenger.

Instagram works well for many users, but some users have trouble posting stories. According to the interrupt tracker Downdetector, approximately 10,400 users have reported issues related to Instagram. Users in India did not experience any problems on Instagram, but some of them encountered problems when trying to post stories or reels on the app. Facebook’s situation has been going downhill, because the social media giant found that it had suffered two power outages in a week.

If that’s not all, a former employee of the company has now become a whistleblower who accused Facebook of harming children on Instagram. Coincidentally, after the whistleblower made some shocking disclosures about the social media application, Facebook was shut down by users worldwide on October 4. However, Facebook blamed “wrong configuration changes” for the global outage that lasted more than six hours. “Our engineering team understands that configuration changes on the backbone routers that coordinate network traffic between our data centers will cause this communication interruption.

This network traffic interruption has a knock-on effect on the way our data centers communicate, causing us Services ceased,” Facebook noted in its blog.
