Multiplex association postpones National Cinema Day amid Brahmastra fever

A new date for National Cinema Day has been announced by the Multiplex Association of India. Instead of September 16, it will now be observed on September 23.

In a statement, the association said, “The Multiplex Association of India (MAI) and Cinemas across India, welcome moviegoers to spend a day at the movies with celebratory admission price of 75 to mark National Cinema Day. The National Cinema Day was previously scheduled to take place on September 16th, but it would now be held on September 23rd in order to maximise participation.

More than 4000 screens, including those of the movie theatre chains PVR, INOX, Cinepolis, Carnival, MIRA, Citypride, ASIAN, Mukta A2, Movie Time, Wave, M2K, and Delite, are included in the statement’s inclusion of this information.

“National Cinema Day is a thank-you to the moviegoers who helped with the successful reopening of theatres. National Cinema Day is also a call to action for moviegoers who haven’t yet returned to a nearby theatre. India has a vibrant local film industry and has experienced one of the fastest global recoveries in the movie theatre industry. On the strength of international and domestic tentpoles that connected with the Indian public, the first quarter of FY’23 saw remarkable figures among theatre operators.

A comparable deal was also offered earlier in August in the US. The average price of a movie ticket is $9 (approximately $710), thus the cost of the tickets will be just $3 (about 240).
